SCORPION HR-1
SOLID STATE ELECTRONIC
SHOCK TUBE INITIATOR
Section I - Mechanical
Case Material: Heavy Duty Urethane
Case Size: 9.2"L x 1.5"Diam (23.4cm L x 3.81cm Diam.)
Weight: 10.4 oz. (0.295 kg)
Type Circuitry: Solid State Electronic

Section II - Operating Procedures
Remove any non-electric tubing connected to the Electric Initiation
Nozzle so that the unit IS NOT CONNECTED to any shock tube.

Place the Electric Initiation Nozzle into the Output Jack located at
the top of the HR-1. Make sure it is seated firmly into place.

Press and maintain the Fire switch for no less than 1 second and
then release the switch. A spark will occur at the tip of the
Electrode of the Electric Initiation Nozzle.

If no spark, or a very faint spark should occur - first: check and/or
replace the 9V battery located under the battery cap at the base of
the machine and/or second: replace Electric Initiation Nozzle with a
new one.

If the unit is working properly, locate the tubing lock hole located on
the side of the Electric Initiation Nozzle laterally positioned to the unit.
Thread the non-electric tubing through this hole allowing enough tubing at
the end to thread into the initiation hole at the tip which will lead the
tubing down vertically through the nozzle so that it slips easily over the
electrode which is is visible through the 4 holes on the side of the Electric
Initiation Nozzle.
With the non-electric tubing in place, Insert the Electric Initiation Nozzle
into the Initiation Jack located at the top of the HR-1. Make it is seated
firmly into place.

Press and maintain the Fire switch for no less than 1 second and then
release the switch.
TO ABORT: Remove the Electric Initiation Nozzle from the Initiation Jack
prior to releasing the Fire switch.
Section III - Handling & Care
To maintain the proper functionality of your Scorpion HB-50 Blasting unit
please observe the following:
a. Avoid severe impact. The HR-1 is impact resistant however
severe localized or blunt impact could crack and/or breach
the HR-1's case. NEVER USE THIS UNIT IF ITS CASE IS
CRACKED OR BREACHED. In this instance please see
Section V - Servicing.
b. Avoid leaving the HR-1 partially or fully submerged in water.
should your HR-1 become partially or fully submerged in
water towel dry the machine and let water drain from tip.
Should battery corrosion occur refer to Section V - Servicing.
c. Avoid dirt and debris from entering the electric initiation nozzle
jack at the tip of the machine. This could reduce the effective-
ness of your HR-1 and may preclude it from firing or firing
properly. Should dirt and debris accumulate use an air hose to
remove. DO NOT use solvants.
e. NEVER use your HR-1 as a lever or impact device.
f. NEVER use your HR-1 as an alternate energy source on equipment
for which it was not designed.
g. NEVER USE A DAMAGED OR QUESTIONABLE MACHINE.

Section IV - Labeling
The HR-1's face plates includes operating instructions and the unit's
serial number. Should these labels become unlegible or are removed.
