SCORPION HB-SBS
SOLID STATE ELECTRONIC BLASTING UNIT
& NON-ELECTRIC SHOCK TUBE INITIATOR
Section I - Mechanical
Case Material: Heavy Duty Urethane
Case Size: 3"W x 2"D x 6"H (7.6cm W x 5.8cm D x 15.2cm H)
Weight: 1 lbs. 12 oz. (0.79 kg)
Type Circuitry: Solid State Electronic
Firing Voltage: 225 VDC Minimum (Nominal)
Firing Energy: 4 Joules (w/s)
Power Source: 1 Ea. 9V Alkaline Dry Cell (NEDA 15A)
Section II - Operating Procedures
TO TEST: Before connecting to blasting circuit; depress "CHARGE" switch
until "READY" light illuminates. While maintaining pressure on "Charge"
switch depress "DETONATE" switch. "READY" light should go off immediately.

Caution: Do NOT relax "Charge" switch when depressing "Detonate" switch.
The HB-SBS utilizes a dual switch firing mechanism to assure the blaster's
conviction to detonate.

When "READY" light fails to illuminate replace the 4 'AA' Alkaline
Cells under battery cap on right side of machine. Observe cap position when
replacing cap so as not to cross thread.

TO OPERATE: Connect machine to the blasting circuit and repeat "CHARGE"
and "DETONATE" sequence as in "TO TEST."

Section III - Handling & Care
To maintain the proper functionality of your Scorpion HB-SBS Blasting unit
please observe the following:
a. Avoid severe impact. The HB-SBS is impact resistant however
severe localized or blunt impact could crack and/or breach
the HB-SBS's casing. NEVER USE THIS UNIT IF ITS CASE IS
CRACKED OR BREACHED. In this instance please see
Section V - Servicing.
b. Avoid leaving the HB-SBS partially or fully submerged in water.
should your HB-SBS become partially or fully submerged in
water towel dry the machine including switch and binding
posts. Should battery corrosion occur refer to Section V
- Servicing.
c. Avoid wrenching, impacting, or over-tightening binding posts.
Should this happen to the binding posts the protective
plastic shielding may become damaged or removed. SHOCK
HAZARD: If the protective plastic shielding is removed from
one or both of the binding posts potentially lethal voltage
exists to a grounded blaster should contact be made with the
exposed binding post at discharge. See Section V
- Servicing for maintenance and repair information.
d. After daily use clear debris and/or dust from in and around
switch bezel and store it in a safe and dry environment.
e. NEVER use your HB-SBS as a lever or impact device.
f. NEVER use your HB-SBS as an alternate energy source on equipment
for which it was not designed.
g. Output oscillograms are recorded on every machine by the
manufacturer.
h. NEVER USE A DAMAGED OR QUESTIONABLE MACHINE.

Section IV - Labeling
The HB-SBS's face plate includes operating instructions and the unit's
serial number. Should this label become unlegible or is removed
see Section V - Servicing for replacement.
