Instead of wasting valuable battery life and operational time fighting a heavy spring-loaded or fire-rated door, operators can deploy the Door Stop and create a reliable opening in just minutes. The system allows virtually any robotic platform to overcome one of the most common obstacles encountered during remote operations while maintaining safer stand-off distances from potential threats.

The Problem

Opening spring-loaded and fire-rated doors is one of the most frustrating challenges faced by robot operators. It often consumes valuable time, drains robot batteries, and can require multiple attempts before a robot is able to enter a structure.

The Robot RATS Door Stop was developed to simplify this task, allowing virtually any robotic platform to overcome spring-loaded doors quickly and efficiently.

How It Works

1. Clamp the Door Stop in your robot's gripper.
2. Drive to the door and position the device on the knob side of the door.
3. Release the gripper and allow the magnetic base to attach to the door.
4. Use the robot manipulator to grasp the door handle and begin opening the door.
5. As the door opens, the spring-loaded mechanism automatically deploys around the door.
6. Once the door has opened approximately 10–15 inches, the device fully deploys.
7. Release the door handle and allow the door to close against the stop.
8. The device maintains an opening large enough for the robot manipulator to pass through.
9. Drive through the opening and continue the mission.
10. The door remains held open for both entry and exit operations.
